Products Description
An internal resistance tester identifies cell performance gaps. An active battery balancer eliminates them at the source. For electric and plug-in hybrid vehicle battery service, resolving cell inconsistency is the key to restoring full pack performance.
A traction battery pack is constructed from series-connected cells. After prolonged charge-discharge cycles, disparities in electrode aging, self-discharge rate and internal impedance build up, creating progressive voltage and capacity imbalance across the cell string. The pack’s total usable capacity is capped by the weakest lagging cell, manifesting as drastically shortened range, degraded fast-charging speed, sudden voltage drops during operation, and even BMS-triggered power derating or fault alerts. Standard diagnostic tools can only read static voltage differences and cannot redistribute charge between cells. Replacing individual cells is not only prohibitively costly, but also risks compromising the pack’s hermetic seal and insulation integrity. Only an active balancer leverages an energy-transfer architecture to precisely shift charge from high-state-of-charge cells to low-state-of-charge cells, correcting SOC deviation for every cell without pack disassembly and with minimal energy loss, fully restoring the battery pack’s usable capacity.
From compact 48V mild hybrid systems to full high-voltage traction battery packs, this is an indispensable service device for routine battery maintenance, out-of-warranty performance restoration, used-vehicle battery refurbishment, and faulty pack voltage correction. A diagnostic tool can only tell you a pack suffers from cell imbalance. An active balancer truly fixes it, markedly extending overall pack service life and cutting end-user repair costs.
